High Plains Tap House and Whiskey Bar carries whiskey from all around the world. High Plains currently has over 80 whiskeys on the shelves with over 40 of those being the Single Malt variety. That collection is growing as well, and High Plains will be introducing over 10 more whiskeys in the next couple weeks.

Today we will be highlighting another fantastic whiskey from High West Distillery - Bourye!
More info on High West Distillery. High West has been around since 2006 and does distill its own liquor. What made High West 2011s "Whiskey Pioneer of the Year" winner is the fact that they blend different types of whiskey together, sometimes their own, oftentimes other people’s liquors into fantastic new creations!
High West Bourye is one of the whiskeys that they blend from other people’s liquors, and it comes out beautifully!

High West Bourye is a unique and premium blend of rich bourbon and rye whiskeys, making for a premier sipping whiskey. NO ice needed with this whiskey but a couple of drops of water helps it open its beautiful bounty to your senses.

The Name:
Bourye is a combination of "Bou" for bourbon and "rye" for..well, rye whiskey. Because combining bourbon and rye is a bit unusual, High West chose the Jackalope as the mascot for this amazing drink.

More Info:
All whiskeys in this carefully crafted blend are a minimum of 10 years old and sourced from multiple distilleries. See HighWest.com for technical details and sourcing, that’s not a secret. However, the proportions are!
Clarification from the High West - They buy Aged Whiskeys then blend them for additional aging and then they bottle the final product.

Filtration - not chill-filtered, or carbon treated
ABV 46%, 92 Proof

Age, Distilled by & Mashbill:
A blend of straight Bourbon and Rye whiskeys aged from 10 to 14 years.
Straight Rye Whiskey: 95% rye, 5% barley malt from MGP & 53% rye, 37% corn, 10% barley malt from MGP
Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% barley malt from MGP

Barrel Type:
Whiskeys aged in new, charred white American oak barrels

Sensory Notes:
Nose - Vanilla Butter toffee, Spiced Marzipan, Roasted Nuts, Dried Pineapple
Taste - Sweet Honey Nougat, Rich Caramel, Dark Ginger Cake, Mulling Spices, Dried Stone Fruit.
Finish - Long & Rich, Roasted Pecan, Molasses, and Crème Brûlée

Free Wi-Fi is Back!

ShareThis
Nate here, Co-Owner of High Plains Tap House.
There has been some consternation lately with our lack of Wi-Fi. Unfortunately a very, very small group of people or even one individual abused our internet for illegal purposes and our ISP shut off our internet due to this fact. As a business we obviously rely on our internet for business purposes, and we cannot go without it. For this reason we shut off the Wi-Fi access while we assessed the business needs vs. the needs of our clientele and the security involved to protect Laura and I's business.

The security assessment has led me to make some security changes to the network. I have made some changes to our firewall ports to block some of the obvious places for abuse including Torrent ports and protocols among others. I will also be changing our password weekly. With that said, we have decided to turn back on our Wi-Fi.

If the few decide to ruin it for the many we will have no choice but to permanently shut off our Wi-Fi.

Thanks for your patience, and please feel free to ask your server or bartender for the weekly password.

Enjoy the free Wi-Fi.

Today I am starting a new series highlighting all of the amazing whiskeys that High Plains carries from all around the world.  High Plains currently has over 80 whiskeys on the shelves with over 40 of those being the Single Malt variety.  That collection is growing as well, and I will be introducing over 10 more whiskeys in the next couple weeks.

To get you tasting these fantastic whiskeys we will be offering specials on the selected whiskeys each time they are Highlighted by me!

Today we will be highlighting one of my favorite new whiskeys from High West Distillery - High West Campfire!
To understand this whiskey you first need just a little bit of background on High West Distillery.  High West has been around since 2006 and does distill its own liquor.  What made High West 2011s "Whiskey Pioneer of the Year" winner is the fact that they blend different types of whiskey together, sometimes their own, oftentimes other people’s liquors into fantastic new creations!
High West Campfire is one of the whiskeys that they blend from other people’s liquors, and it comes out beautifully!

High West Campfire is the world’s only blend of Scotch, bourbon and rye whiskeys.
The main flavor is sweet honey from a ripe bourbon. The enhancing flavor is floral fruity spice from a mature rye whiskey. The accent is smoke from a peated scotch whisky.
This whiskey is so full of flavor that it explodes in your mouth every sip!  Like bourbon? You'll like this.  Like rye whiskeys?  You'll like this.  Like peated whisky?  You'll like this.  There is something in this whiskey for everyone!

The Details:
Filtration: No Chill Filtration, No Flavor Added
ABV: 46%, 92 Proof

Age(s), Distilled by & Mashbill(s)
A blend of bourbon, rye, and peated Scotch whisky, ranging in age from 5-8 years old.
Straight Rye Whiskey: 95% rye, 5% barley malt from MGP
Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% barley malt from MGP
Blended Malt Scotch Whisky: Undisclosed Source (due to contractual reasons)

Barrel Type(s)
New, charred white American oak barrels, as well as 2nd use Bourbon barrels

Nose: Floral, fruity, bright and spicy, caramel, butterscotch, light smoke and smoldering wood from a campfire the morning after, jasmine, chai tea, sandalwood, leather, tobacco, pine resin and toasted bread.
Taste: vanilla, honey, toffee with some nice fruit, blueberries and black cherries, chai spices - nutmeg, cinnamon, orange zest, salty caramels, tobacco, gentle smoke!

A Very Special New Beer on Tuesday!

ShareThis

High Plains Tap House has been saving a small keg of the The Vig by Locavore Beer Works since the beer won our Brewery Battles in late 2015.

This Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout runs at 9% ABV and has fantastic bourbon flavor! This beer won the grand prize over 8 other heavy hitters as voted by you, the customer. So you know it has what it takes to knock your socks off!

Get in Tuesday and get yourself a pour of the fabled Vig before it is gone forever!

While supplies last, and I don't expect them to last very long!

May all your Imperial Stouts be Bourbon Barrel Aged!
